Meet our Newest Commissioner!

Katie Donovan, a lifelong resident of Newton, has recently joined the Child Care Commission as our newest commissioner.
Katie has worked at the Auburndale Community Nursery School for the last 18 years; 15 years as a lead teacher in the pre-K room and as a Co-director at both the Newtonville and Auburndale sites for the last 3 years. She earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Boston College and continues to keep current in the field, recently attending a national education conference in Chicago. Katie has been a member of the Big Brother/Big Sister Association and has been a tutor in the Boston school system. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Newton Early Childhood Association and enjoys helping to organize and participate in fund raising events - most notably for breast cancer research. Katie and her husband, Mark, have two children, Peter and Sarah Anastasia, who both attended the Newton Public Schools. She enjoys running and participating in local road races, traveling and spending time at her home on the Cape. We are very pleased to have Katie on the commission and look forward to her bringing new ideas and enthusiasm to the group!
