Child Care Checklist

Click here to get a printable checklist of items that you can use for each program you visit (this displays the checklist in a new browser window).

Suggestions for Printing from Web Pages

Some web browsers allow you to reduce the size of pages that are printed. You may want to see if your browser (such as Netscape or Internet Explorer) will allow you to do this before you print pages from this site, such as provider lists or applications.

To see if you can change these settings, pull down the "File" menu, and select "Page Setup...". A dialog box will appear with options for paper size, orientation, etc. If there is an option to "Reduce or Enlarge" with a percentage value in a box, you can lower the number to less than 100% (say 85%) so that the webpage will fit on the sheet of paper better.

If this option is not available, and you have trouble fitting the webpage on a single page width, you can change the orientation to "Landscape" and reduce the left and right margins to fit more of the webpage on the sheet of paper.

Preschool Programs

Pre-school programs vary in the hours and days, from half-day nursery schools to full day/full year programs. Many half day programs do offer extended hours. Generally, children must be at least 2 years 9 months to begin pre-school in September. In planning for your child as he/she begins pre-school, be aware that children must be 5 years old on or before August 31st in order to enter Kindergarten. (*) = offers a full day program.

NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) is a national credentialing program which sets standards, evaluates and recognizes a high level of quality child care within a program. Programs accredited by NAEYC are indicated by an  O.
